Mayor had been detained: New development in the operation against CHP's Eşme Municipality

Six people, including Mayor Yılmaz Tozan, who were detained in an operation targeting Eşme Municipality in Uşak over allegations of 'extortion,' have been referred to the courthouse following health checks.

Under the coordination of the Uşak Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and as part of an investigation conducted by the Eşme Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an inquiry was launched into Eşme Municipality on charges of 'extortion.' Within the scope of the investigation, detention warrants were issued for CHP's Eşme Mayor Yılmaz Tozan, his wife Burcu Tozan, and 4 other individuals.

In an operation carried out on April 17 by teams from the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch at designated addresses, Mayor Yılmaz Tozan, his wife, his driver M.F., municipal employee H.D., and I.U., who works at the Eşme Municipality Police Department, were taken into custody. Subsequently, CHP Municipal Council Member R.S.S., for whom a detention warrant had been issued, was also detained.

During searches conducted by police teams at Eşme Municipality, some digital materials were seized. It was learned that O.Ü., for whom an arrest warrant had been issued, is currently in prison as he is being held in custody as part of a separate investigation in the Eşme district.

The suspects were taken from the Eşme District Police Department to the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch on the same day.

REFERRED TO THE COURTHOUSE AFTER HEALTH CHECKS

Mayor Tozan and the 5 suspects underwent health checks at Uşak Training and Research Hospital following their processing at the police station and were then referred to the Eşme Courthouse.
