Measures taken against forest fires
The Bilecik Governor's Office has banned entry into forests between June 5 and October 31 due to the increased risk of forest fires during the summer months. As the summer months approach in Bilecik, a critical measure has been taken against forest fires. Governor Şefik Aygöl announced that starting from June 5 until October 31, entry into forests will be subject to the permission of the Governor's Office.
Lighting fires and picnicking have also been prohibited during this period. Reminding that 25 hectares of land were reduced to ashes in 22 fires that occurred last year, Governor Aygöl said, "Our main goal is to protect our green homeland."
Governor Aygöl made the following statement:
"Last year, approximately 25 hectares of land were damaged in 22 forest fires in our city. With the decision we have taken, lighting fires and picnicking in forest areas are prohibited from June 5 until October 31. Entry into these areas will be subject to the permission of the Governor's Office.
A significant portion of the fires originated from stubble burning after the harvest. We have made it mandatory for combine harvesters to have a water tanker present when performing harvests. Our main goal will be to protect our green homeland in particular and to look after our forests, which are the green necklace of our country."
