Meat and Milk Board (ESK) General Manager Mücahit Taylan has faced public backlash after it was revealed that he is a partner in Green Farm And Trade Kft., a company engaged in meat trading in Hungary. While Taylan denied allegations that the company in question sold meat to the Meat and Milk Board, the institution he manages, he defended his partnership in the company as "ethical."

Taylan's statement, in which he denied establishing any commercial relationship with the company in Hungary but confirmed he is a partner, has become a major topic of public discussion.

'ETHICAL' DEFENSE AGAINST ALLEGATIONS

In his statement, Taylan claimed that the company in Hungary had not sold any products to the Meat and Milk Board. However, Taylan rejected the allegations that caused public speculation, stating that "being a partner in a company that trades meat is in accordance with ethical rules." Taylan also emphasized that the company in question has not conducted any imports or exports to Turkey or EU countries, nor has it engaged in any commercial activity since 2021.

The statement included the following: "The allegations that the company in Hungary has established a commercial relationship with the Meat and Milk Board or has made sales to this institution are completely untrue, and the falsehood of such claims can be revealed even by a simple audit."

THE 'DISINFECTANT MINISTER' INCIDENT

Taylan's statements brought to mind the incident involving former Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan, who sold disinfectants from her own company while serving as Minister. Pekcan did not face any judicial investigation following this scandal but was removed from her post. The meat trading controversy, which bears similarities to this situation, has resonated even more strongly with the public.

WARNING OF LEGAL ACTION FROM TAYLAN

Mücahit Taylan stated that the allegations made against him and his institution were baseless and that he would initiate legal proceedings regarding the matter. Taylan said, "I will initiate the necessary legal and criminal processes regarding these slanderous allegations." Furthermore, Taylan announced that he would exercise all his legal rights against the individuals or institutions that brought the issue to the agenda.

In his statement, Taylan defended himself by saying, "Both my personal activities and the company's activities are carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation and ethical rules. As someone who comes from within the sector, I use all my expertise in line with the interests of our state."
