In his column today, Altaylı brought up an allegation regarding AJet.
Altaylı had claimed that a passenger's ticket was cancelled for the wife and children of a minister. Minister Şimşek denied those allegations.
In his remarks, Şimşek said, "I strongly condemn the insinuation and accusation of my family through this untrue and denied news report."
According to Altaylı's claim, the following incident occurred on the plane:
“An AJet plane is set to fly from Bodrum airport to Ankara. There are minutes left before the flight begins. Passengers are about to board the plane. A phone call comes to the AJet official at the airport.
‘The wife and three children of Minister …… …… are at the airport. They must fly.’ The AJet staff at the airport are surprised. Boarding passes have been issued, and the counter is closed. It seems there is nothing they can do.
A few minutes later, the phone rings again. ‘The lady is waiting, hurry up.’ In the end, the boarding passes of a medical professor and his family sitting in the first row are cancelled amidst a commotion, and the Minister's wife and children are seated in their place. A major argument breaks out, insults and threats of lawsuits fly, but the Minister's wife is flown.
I do not know if the Minister has seen such a thing in Western countries, but the former politician who relayed the incident to me says, ‘I have never seen such a thing in my life.’”
