Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek is trying new ways to fix the Turkish economy. Mehmet Şimşek, who will travel to the US, will hold numerous meetings there.
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek will attend G20 and World Bank meetings as part of his US contacts, and will hold bilateral meetings with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Pakistani Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
Şimşek begins his US contacts today, accompanied by Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan.
As part of his program, Şimşek will participate in official events and investor meetings, and will hold bilateral talks, attending approximately 50 meetings throughout his US visit.
Minister Şimşek will attend the World Bank Development Committee meeting following the two-day G20 meetings.
Şimşek, who will meet with US Treasury Secretary Yellen and Pakistani Finance Minister Aurangzeb, will also come together with his other counterparts within the scope of the G20 meetings.
Şimşek will also meet with the presidents and senior management of multilateral development banks, holding meetings with World Bank President Ajay Banga, Asian Development Bank Presidential Candidate Masato Kanda, Japan International Cooperation Agency President Nobumitsu Hayashi, Council of Europe Development Bank Governor Carlo Monticelli, Islamic Development Bank President Muhammad Al Jasser, and top executives of the International Finance Corporation.
WILL MEET WITH THE IMF
Minister Şimşek will also meet with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath.
Şimşek, who will attend investor meetings as part of his US contacts, will participate in broad-participation investor seminars with leading investment banks such as BBVA, JP Morgan, BoFA, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered, and Barclays, where he will deliver presentations.
Şimşek will give a detailed presentation on the Turkish economy at the Hutchins Center, one of the most important research centers of the Brookings Institution, and will hold meetings with academics and economists who closely follow Turkey at the Atlantic Council and the Institute of International Finance.
