Mehmet Şimşek responds to 'resignation rumors': 'Let me write it here as well'

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek responded to the 'resignation' rumors circulating about him in a post on his social media account.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, who has been on the agenda due to claims made by many different individuals that he had resigned, made an official statement on his social media account after the resignation rumors showed no signs of stopping.

Stating that the denial of these resignation rumors by various channels was not seen as sufficient, Şimşek began his statement with the words, "It seems the official statements made were not enough, let me write it here as well!"

Here is Şimşek's statement regarding the resignation rumors:

I have not resigned. The scenarios being circulated are not true.

- The economic management is working with a team spirit. We are aware of the great and difficult responsibility we have taken on. With the awareness of this responsibility, we are working to achieve better results every day.

- Our economic stability and reform program is working successfully, and we have started to achieve the results we targeted.

- The current account deficit has narrowed, the Central Bank's reserves have improved, exits from the KKM (FX-protected deposit scheme) are continuing rapidly, we are improving the budget balance by taking measures to address the effects of the EYT (early retirement) and the earthquake on the budget, and most importantly, we are moving forward with strong steps toward the goal of price stability. A clear and permanent decline in inflation has begun.

- In this challenging process, we always feel the strong support of our President.

- Under the leadership of our President, our only goal is to permanently increase the prosperity of our beloved nation. We have no other purpose or mission other than serving our nation.

- While the responsibility and awareness of our duty are on our shoulders, the manufacturing of periodic made-up stories at a desk shows that we are on the right path.

- We can never allow our economy and our markets to be affected by made-up stories.

Those who still create and spread these rumors despite our denials cannot be acting in good faith.
