Mehmet Uçum, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Legal Policies Board, has been drawing attention recently with his statements regarding the potential re-candidacy of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Speaking to Cansu Çamlıbel of T24, Uçum made remarks regarding the latest developments on the agenda.

"THE STATE IS CREATING A NEW PARADIGM"

Uçum made the following assessment regarding the events that began with MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM Party deputies, followed by his call for terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, and the subsequent appointment of trustees to municipalities under the administration of the CHP and DEM Party:

"The state is taking different initiatives in its struggle toward the goal of a 'terror-free Turkey.' It is evaluating various options that could be effective. It is creating a new paradigm."

"THE THOUSAND-YEAR ALLIANCE HAS BEEN BETRAYED"

Speaking about the past resolution process, Mehmet Uçum said, "The thousand-year alliance was betrayed there. In fact, the resolution process could have reached a successful conclusion. However, the actors involved in the process who claimed to be influential betrayed the approach of ending terrorism directed at Turkey."

"DEMİRTAŞ'S 'WE WILL NOT MAKE YOU PRESIDENT' DECLARATION WAS ALSO A BETRAYAL"

When asked, "Is Öcalan one of those who betrayed?", Uçum gave the following response:

"Including Öcalan, the others as well. None of them took an attitude that could have yielded positive results in that process after the Kobani events. The October 6-8 events took place over Kobani. Apart from these, there was also the 'We will not make you president' declaration (by Selahattin Demirtaş) that came to the agenda. In that process, one of the pieces of that betrayal is this; it is the political declaration of 'We will not make you president'."
