Melisa Sözen responds to backlash: 'There is no praise for a terrorist organization, I played an agent fighting ISIS'

Melisa Sözen, who became a target on social media over allegations that she played a terrorist in a French series, has issued a statement in response to the criticism.

Melisa Sözen, who was alleged to have played a terrorist in a famous 2015 French crime series, has responded to the criticism she faced on social media. Sözen made statements regarding her role in the series. 

Melisa Sözen stated that the series was not a secret project, that it was a famous French crime series released in 2015, and that in the season she appeared in, which aired in 2017, she portrayed a double agent fighting against Daesh (ISIS). Sözen stated that no terrorist organization is praised in the series.

Noting that she has faced various criticisms throughout her 25-year acting career, Sözen expressed that it is difficult for young people and those who are emotionally sensitive to cope with cyberbullying. 

Stating that she has experience in dealing with criticism and slander, Sözen drew attention to the importance of verifying the accuracy of information and staying away from lynch culture.

Melisa Sözen said, "Unfortunately, believing without even thinking about or checking the accuracy of information and where it comes from is one of the black holes of our age. So is lynch culture. Do not be a part of this; do not allow yourself or the people around you to experience cyberbullying and emotional violence. I will not allow it."
