Making statements regarding the Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court's refusal to comply with the Constitutional Court's decision for the retrial of Tayfun Kahraman, Meriç Demir Kahraman stated that they are "devastated" and said the following:

"We met with Tayfun in Silivri this morning; he was unaware of the decision, and we hugged each other with hope. I am truly very sad right now. I am going to pick up Vera from school and I don't know what I will tell her...

I don't know what to do when a Constitutional Court decision is not implemented.

We have not harmed anyone, we have never done evil to anyone throughout our lives, and I don't understand why they are making us live through these things now.

I cannot put into words the weight of being the target of an oppression I could never have imagined in my entire life.

I want to be hopeful, but I am struggling.

I honestly don't know what to say or what to do while our family is being made to suffer right before everyone's eyes, even though we are innocent.

I cannot describe the helplessness of no one being able to prevent this. We are devastated," she said.
