Ayşe Ateş recalled that she had previously emphasized how important it is to protect the lives of those mentioned in the case, and used the following expressions:

In the last hearing I attended, I had conveyed to the court panel that the safety of individuals involved in the Sinan Ateş assassination—specifically Doğukan Çep, Tolgahan Demirbaş, Emre Yüksel, and Serdar Öktem, who were subject to strong suspicion or material evidence throughout the investigation and prosecution process, and who were either convicted or still under prosecution—must be ensured. Because the process was no longer proceeding in the public eye, and hot developments were taking place in the background.
