Message from Gürsel Tekin regarding municipalities that switched to the AKP

Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as the trustee to the CHP İstanbul Provincial Presidency, made statements at a membership induction ceremony.

Claiming that new members join the CHP every week, Tekin said that work is being carried out to bring back members who have resigned to the party.

"WE WILL WIN THE HEARTS OF ALL OUR FRIENDS WHO RESIGNED"

Stating that they are working for the unity and integrity of the CHP, Tekin expressed that there are no mayors in Istanbul who have left the party.

Tekin noted that some members have resigned from the CHP for various reasons recently, and said that these individuals would be brought back to the party:

"I would like to thank all Republican People's Party members because the fewest resignations occurred in Istanbul. We will be worthy of your trust. Today is a day for solidarity. Today is a day to stand side by side. We have no friends to push away. In fact, President Zeki and President Erkan immediately took it upon themselves. Including their own districts, some of our friends who acted emotionally, remained under psychological pressure, and gave credence to false and incorrect news have, unfortunately, and I say this with sadness, resigned from their party. We will win the hearts of all those friends and include them in our party."

Tekin stated that new members join the CHP every week, adding that new memberships have continued for the last 12 weeks.

"WILL THEY BE CLEANSED JUST BY CHANGING PARTIES?"

Tekin argued that the statements of certain individuals were used as the basis for operations against CHP-run municipalities. Regarding the situation of some individuals who changed parties, he used the following expressions:

"Now I ask. If you based this on that, if you conducted operations on various municipalities based on the confessions of these informants, for example in Üsküdar or Kocaeli, you did so based on the statements of this informant and slanderer. Now, since these same names, one or two names, are in this file, will they be considered cleansed just because they changed parties?"

"THE 3 MUNICIPALITIES THAT JOINED THE AKP WILL BE UNDER MY CLOSE WATCH"

Tekin stated that he would closely monitor the three municipalities in Istanbul that joined the AKP and issued a call to the opposition media:

"Now I am sending you an order here via ANKA. Especially the 3 municipalities that recently joined the AKP in Istanbul will be under my close watch. Since you also consider yourselves free opposition media, come on, let's talk. Let's talk about these 3 municipalities, nothing else."

Following his speech, badges were pinned on the new members who joined the CHP.
