Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel shared a post on his social media account for the 11th anniversary of the Gezi Resistance.
In his message, Özel described the Gezi Resistance as 'the most peaceful and widely attended civil protest of recent years.'
Stating that the release of those sentenced to heavy prison terms in the Gezi trial would be a great opportunity for the 'normalization' of the country, Özel used the following expressions:
"I respectfully commemorate our citizens who lost their lives during the Gezi process. The release of Can Atalay, Tayfun Kahraman, Çiğdem Mater, Mine Özerden, and Osman Kavala, who are being held in prison unjustly, is the greatest opportunity for the country's normalization.
