In his message, President Erdoğan stated, "As a nation, we commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory with great pride and excitement, and I remember our heroes who made Çanakkale impassable with mercy and gratitude." He noted that this great epic, rarely seen in history, where determination and faith triumphed over technology, was the work of hundreds of thousands of heroes who were ready to sacrifice their lives without hesitation for the survival of their homeland and nation, which they considered their honor.
Reminding that in Çanakkale, the nation—men and women, young and old, students and teachers, workers and employers—stood as one body and did not allow the enemy to pass, President Erdoğan emphasized that with this struggle, the Turkish nation became a beacon of hope for all the oppressed, and that many countries under colonial rule launched their own struggles inspired by Çanakkale and later the War of Independence.
AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan noted the following in his message:
"Çanakkale not only expresses our eternal and everlasting brotherhood as a nation, but also reflects and symbolizes the shared destiny of the region we are in. We pray for God's mercy upon every one of the brave souls who came from all corners of our heartland and sacrificed their lives without hesitation for the defense of Anatolia. The lessons we draw from the epic written in Çanakkale will be a source of inspiration for us in building the Century of Türkiye. The spirit of Çanakkale, which is proof that we will not fall even if the whole world comes against us as long as we hold firmly to our unity, solidarity, and brotherhood, will continue to illuminate our path. I celebrate the 110th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory, and on this 18 March Martyrs' Day, I remember all our martyrs, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal, and all our heroes with mercy and gratitude. May their souls rest in peace and their place be in heaven."
