Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who uses his social media account to make important statements on the agenda, this time shared a post regarding the Gezi Park events.
12 years have passed since the Gezi Park events, which began in 2013 in Istanbul's Taksim Gezi Park against the cutting down of trees and quickly turned into widespread protests across the country.
The actions, which initially emerged with environmental sensitivity, evolved over time into a process in which many different segments of society participated and broad-based reactions to government policies were expressed.
During the protests, 8 people lost their lives, thousands were injured, and legal proceedings were initiated against many individuals.
Using the phrases 'the name of a just and honorable struggle' for Gezi, Kılıçdaroğlu made the following post:
"For a life worthy of human dignity…
For the complete establishment of democracy, freedom, and fundamental rights…
For those beautiful days when we can laugh heartily again with hope and joy…
Gezi is the name of this just and honorable struggle.
Gezi is a people's longing for equality, justice, and brotherhood.
And we, just as we did in those days, continue on our path today with the same determination and the same faith.
No one should lose hope. Because the conscience of this country is still standing.
Because the youth, women, and laborers of this country are still fighting shoulder to shoulder."
