The DEM Party held its Peace and Democratic Society Meetings in Şanlıurfa. There, DEM Party MP Ömer Öcalan, nephew of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, also gave a speech.
Recounting his latest meeting with the terrorist leader Öcalan, Ömer Öcalan said that Öcalan evaluated the DEM Party's local organization and asked, "How will you grow in Şanlıurfa, how will you advance the democratic system? Is this possible without tribes and opinion leaders?"
"TRIBES MUST BE INCLUDED"
Ömer Öcalan claimed that Abdullah Öcalan stated that certain tribes should be involved in the process by naming them, saying, "The İzol, Bucak, Karakeçili, Kalendar, Uzun, and Türkan tribes must be part of this process."
Stating, "If we are conducting the peace and resolution process with the state, we must also discuss our own internal issues," Öcalan expressed that the Kurds have protected their identity through the tribal structure for centuries.
Öcalan also used the expressions, "Even if there have been problems with some tribes, the Leadership said these should be reviewed. We must extend our hands to one another."
