Message to youth from Resul Emrah Şahan: 'Your courage is a guiding light for us'

Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, who was detained and subsequently arrested and sent to prison as part of the 'urban consensus' investigation launched against him, has shared a new message.

In his message, Şahan greeted the youth with the words, "Your courage and determination are a guiding light for us." 

The message, penned by Şahan in his own handwriting, was published via his social media account. The post included the following statements: 

"My young student brothers and sisters;

During my 4-day detention process, I met with brothers and sisters from my own university and many others, and I was amazed by their energy. Your courage and determination are a guiding light for us. The struggle is born from the university students they say are finished, it grows, and it drives politics. I am glad you exist. Despite everything, I am glad there are real republican youth in this country who take ownership of their future. We will get out. We will deliver the rights of Şişli to Şişli. We will deliver the rights of Istanbul to Istanbul. We will bring relief to this country."
