Meteorological warning issued for 66 provinces: Successive statements from AFAD, AKOM, and the Governor's Office

Starting tomorrow, with the arrival of a new rainy weather system, temperatures across the country will drop by an average of 8-10 degrees. The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued yellow and orange coded warnings for 66 provinces.
The Istanbul Governor's Office and AKOM have issued warnings for storms and heavy rain for tomorrow. AFAD has also sent messages to mobile phones. Turkish Airlines (THY) has cancelled 40 of its flights scheduled for tomorrow due to adverse weather conditions.

STORM WARNING FROM METEOROLOGY FOR ISTANBUL AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
The Meteorological Service has reported that winds will blow at storm force in Istanbul and surrounding provinces over the weekend.
According to the statement made by the Istanbul Regional Forecast and Early Warning Center of the 1st Regional Directorate of Meteorology, it is estimated that winds will blow at storm force from the north and northwest in Istanbul, Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Yalova starting tomorrow morning.
The storm is also expected to be effective in parts of Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Yalova starting Sunday morning.
Citizens are advised to be cautious and take precautions against negative consequences such as disruptions in transportation, roof damage, and the toppling of trees and utility poles.
STORM AND RAIN WARNING FOR THE WEEKEND FROM AKOM
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has announced that cold and rainy weather is arriving in Istanbul for the weekend. The statement included the following: "IMM teams will be kept on standby 24/7 against potential flooding and water accumulation due to heavy rain and storms."

Heavy rainfall is expected between 06:00 on Saturday and 20:00 on Sunday, while strong winds and storms are forecast to blow between 10:00 on Saturday and 20:00 on Sunday."

The statement continued, "Due to temperatures dropping to winter levels along with the storm, heavy rainfall of 40-60 kilograms per square meter will occur across the province for 2 days. Precipitation is expected to exceed 80-100 kilograms per square meter in the northern regions where the storm is effective."
IMM teams will be kept on 24-hour standby against potential flooding and ponding caused by heavy rain and storms. Citizens were also warned against the falling of trees and poles, the blowing off of signs and roofs, and potential disruptions in public transportation due to the storm."
