Meteorology issues warning: Heavy rainfall in many provinces, storms expected in Marmara and Aegean

The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has warned against heavy rainfall and strong winds, stating that temperatures will remain below seasonal norms.

The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has reported that air temperatures across the country will remain below seasonal norms. According to forecasts, showers and thunderstorms will be effective in many regions.

Rainfall is expected in provinces in the Marmara region excluding Edirne, the Eastern Mediterranean, the eastern part of Central Anatolia, the coasts of the Central Black Sea, the Eastern Black Sea, Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia, as well as the surroundings of Muğla and Karaman. Showers are also forecast for the northern districts of İzmir, the western and eastern districts of Antalya, and the eastern part of Tokat.

MGM has issued a heavy rainfall warning for the surroundings of Istanbul, Adana, Osmaniye, Sinop, Erzincan, Tunceli, and Elazığ. Rainfall is also expected to be locally heavy in the eastern parts of Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, and Çanakkale; the western part of Kocaeli; the northern parts of Balıkesir and Malatya; the western part of Hatay; the northern sections of Kastamonu; the eastern part of Rize; and the northern part of Artvin.

The wind is expected to blow strongly from northern directions, occasionally reaching storm force, in the western part of the Western Black Sea, Marmara, and the North Aegean coasts. In the southeast of Eastern Anatolia, the wind is expected to be strong from southern directions.

Meteorology has urged citizens to be careful and take precautions against potential negative consequences due to heavy rainfall and wind. It was also reported that storms are expected at sea in the Western Black Sea, Marmara, and the North and Central Aegean.
