Metin Külünk issues 'euthanasia' warning to AKP: 'An insidious game'

The first 3 articles of the legislative proposal, which includes the putting down of stray dogs under the name of 'euthanasia', were accepted following high-tension discussions in the TBMM Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs Committee.

Regarding the bill, which continues to be a subject of public debate, former AKP MKYK member Metin Külünk issued a warning to his party, expressing his reaction to the proposal currently in committee and claiming that the AKP is facing a very insidious game.

Reacting to the word euthanasia, Külünk stated that while measures should be taken, the legitimization of killing through grand statements is unacceptable.

"MEASURES SHOULD BE TAKEN"

Stating that measures should be taken, Külünk noted that the name of this measure is not euthanasia and that a great state can find solutions without resorting to killing.

Sharing a post on social media under the heading of an open call to the TBMM, Külünk stated that the legislative proposal on animal rights currently being discussed in the TBMM contains ambiguous expressions, open-ended uncertainties with malicious intent, and that certain justified criticisms that could lead to social outrage should be taken into account, adding that the bill should be reconsidered.

"WILL BE SUBJECTED TO BACKLASH"

Külünk said that if the law is enacted in this form, members of the AKP government and the deputies who vote in favor of this law in parliament will face backlash over photos of killed animals, and he claimed that the AKP government will receive heavy criticism over these photos shared with the public.

"THE AK PARTY IS FACING A VERY INSIDIOUS GAME"

Külünk stated, "Those who applaud the passage of the law today by foreseeing only killing as a measure will see their applause replaced by slogans of 'the heartless' tomorrow," adding that the AKP is facing a very insidious game.
