National Security Council to meet with 'opening process' on the agenda

The National Security Council (MGK) meeting, to be presided over by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will be held today (July 30). The agenda includes critical developments occurring both domestically and across the border.

According to a report by the pro-government newspaper Türkiye, the new roadmaps to be followed in the new opening process, referred to as a "Terror-Free Turkey," will be among the priority topics at this year's fourth MGK meeting. 

Developments in the region following the symbolic laying down of arms by a group of PKK terrorists will be evaluated in detail. On the other hand, the structure and scope of duties of the commission planned to be established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) within the scope of the process will also be taken up by the council.

One of the notable topics of the meeting will be the terrorist organization YPG. The process of the YPG's integration with the Syrian regime and the security risks that may arise from the agreement signed between the new Syrian administration and the SDF in March, which has not yet been implemented, will be discussed by the council.

In addition, it is expected that combat plans against forest fires, which frequently come to the agenda during the summer months, will also be discussed. Within the scope of international developments, the course of the war between Russia and Ukraine and the tensions on the Azerbaijan-Armenia line are also expected to be on the agenda.

Finally, the schedule for the Supreme Military Council, where the appointments of generals and admirals will be made, is also among the issues that could be decided at the meeting.
