MHP Chairman Bahçeli: We used terms like terrorist leader, baby killer, and ringleader for Öcalan in the past

Bahçeli shared his assessments regarding the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process and current developments with journalist Ceyhun Bozkurt.

Devlet Bahçeli noted the following regarding the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process and the potential visit to İmralı by the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission in the Turkish Grand National Assembly:

Turkey has achieved great success in the fight against terrorism. Together with the President's statements regarding the importance of the internal front, we have taken such a step to completely remove terrorism from Turkey's agenda. The stage reached is positive. Now, the discussion is about the issue of going to İmralı. One of the important interlocutors of this issue is Abdullah Öcalan. It is mandatory for him to be heard as well. Thus, an important threshold towards our goal will be crossed. So far, important thresholds such as Öcalan's statement, the dissolution of the PKK, and the burning of weapons have been crossed. The stage reached is positive.

"WE USED TERMS LIKE BABY KILLER AND RINGLEADER IN THE PAST"

In the past, we used terms like terrorist leader, baby killer, and ringleader for Öcalan. But at the point reached, it is now a matter of Turkey completely removing terrorism from our lives. We know Öcalan's influence on the organization since its founding process. For this reason, I used the term 'founding leader.' I am using it. They are criticizing my defense of going to İmralı. Open a map of Turkey in front of you. Put your finger on Silivri. Look, it is within the borders of the Republic of Turkey. Then put your finger on İmralı Island. It is also within the borders of the Republic of Turkey. What is the difference between going to Silivri and going to İmralı Prison? There is none. If one can go to Silivri, one can also go to İmralı. This issue cannot be considered independently of imperialist-Zionist aggressive policies. When terrorism is removed from the agenda, Turkey will focus on its fundamental problems.

Regarding Ahmet Türk, who was removed from his post as Co-Mayor of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality and replaced by a trustee, Bahçeli said, "When Ahmet Türk visited us, I told him about the TV series 'Uzak Şehir' (Distant City). I told him how beautifully it depicted our Mardin. Then I said, 'But something is missing in the series.' He didn't understand at first. I continued: 'The Metropolitan Mayor of Mardin is missing from the series,' I said. Then he understood what I meant." 

"ISRAEL WANTS TO DISMEMBER SYRIA"

Stating that "there should be a unitary structure in Syria," Bahçeli continued his words as follows:

There is a Ba'ath regime in Syria. First, the elder Assad and then his son were in power. Great atrocities have been experienced over the last 13 years. There is a new era after December 8, 2024. Turkey is a significant power regarding the Syrian issue. Israel wants to fragment Syria. The obstacle to this is Turkey. In the new era in Syria, a unitary state must be formed with Turkey's support. There are 11 ethnic and sectarian structures in the country. A unitary structure is essential to keep them together. However, a democratic system must be established. Furthermore, 85 percent of the country consists of Arabs. The official language will be Arabic, and the use of other languages will be permitted without harming the constitutional system. Any situation other than this will serve Israel's goals in Syria.

"YOU MUST CRUSH THE SNAKE'S HEAD WHILE IT IS SMALL"

Bahçeli made the following assessment regarding Cyprus:

Shortly before the election, the TRNC Assembly accepted the two-state solution proposal by a majority vote. This policy was implemented. However, those who won the election oppose the two-state solution. This structure is the CTP, an extension of structures like EOKA and AKEL, which dream of ENOSIS, on the Turkish Cypriot side. They are also working in coordination with the current CHP administration in Turkey. They reject the two-state solution. Upon this situation, I went out on election night and said the solution is for the TRNC Assembly to decide to join Turkey. A bi-communal solution is not a solution. This solution is a snake. You must crush the snake's head while it is small. Otherwise, that snake will bite us all.

Regarding the fight against FETÖ, Bahçeli stated, "There are still problems," adding, "For example, we see it in operations. They are still working actively. They are trying to keep the financial leg alive. The financial and other legs must definitely be crushed. Otherwise, we will continue to live with the FETÖ threat."

Regarding the betting investigation, Bahçeli said, "These are things that tarnish football. I spoke with Football Federation President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu. He is conducting a very important fight. I support him."
