Highlights from Bahçeli's group meeting speech:
STATEMENT ON CHURCH ATTACK
"A citizen lost their life in an attack by two terrorists during a service in Sarıyer. I condemn this act. It is gratifying that the terrorists were captured in a short time. Enemies of Turkey who want to disrupt our social peace do not abandon their actions. We must be vigilant against those who want to provoke until the elections. We will not give them the opportunity.
Enemies of Turkey, who spread misery to disrupt our social peace and cloud our public order and security, never rest. We must grasp and follow developments with care and caution. We must be maximally vigilant against the dark hands planning to keep the atmosphere of provocation alive until the March 31 elections. While protecting the life and property security of our citizens is the primary duty of the state, not compromising on the rule of law is also a responsibility entrusted to all of us.
"WE WILL NOT COMPROMISE ON THE RULE OF LAW"
The heads of the perpetrators who would weaken the sovereign interests of the state must be crushed. We must keep our national security vigorous. It will not be murder organizations relying on asymmetric provocations that determine Turkey's future, but the noble existence of the nation.
While protecting the life and property security of our citizens is the primary duty of the state, not compromising on the rule of law is also a responsibility entrusted to all of us.
"MHP AND THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE ARE LOCKED ON THE TARGET"
Tearing the masks off lies, tripping up slanders, and grabbing betrayals by the collar is our duty of cause and politics. Standing against those trying to break Turkey's back is our fundamental duty. The Turkish homeland is our earthly paradise, and Turkey is our pride. The peace and security, prosperity and well-being of our citizens is our indisputable goal. We will not remain idle or motionless against any focus trying to drag Turkey into a fate trapped by risks and threats. We are in search and pursuit of realizing the vision of the Turkish and Turkey Century. There is no patience left to lose time. There is no patience left to endure the politics of exploitation and betrayal. The upcoming democratic [process] must be overcome without accidents or trouble. Turkey's momentum of progress must continue. The MHP and the People's Alliance are locked on this goal. The MHP draws its strength from the sacred. Our stance against anyone who acts against our national interests will not be shaken.
MERSİN RALLY
Let no one indulge in empty dreams or make wrong calculations. Mersin is ours, and Turkey belongs to all of us. There is no peace from now on for the separatists who place an embargo on Mersin. On March 31, 2024, Mersin will pass to the administration of the People's Alliance; the others will be left behind and buried under the years they have wasted. I hope the enthusiasm in Mersin will be repeated in Manisa this weekend. We will work hard, we will turn night into day without hiding behind any excuses. We will save local governments from obsolete politics. We will grow our cities, our hopes, and our bread. We have prepared our roadmap, we have drawn our route. We will break through those who place barriers of discord in front of us. We will protect the homeland. Let some be recruited, let them be 'DEM-ified' (associated with DEM Party), let them turn into political weathercocks. Their struggles are in vain, their ambitions are futile. On March 31, we will break the wrists of them all at the ballot box. We will settle the account for all of them using the opportunities of democracy. We will embrace our people in the mosque, in the cemevi, in prayer, in wishes, in hearts, and in souls. We will stand tall until the end against the puppets of the enemy.
Every child of the homeland who makes up our nation is one and equal. A privileged minority can never be mentioned. One of the greatest gains of the century-old republic is equality of opportunity. The people are ours, and Turkey belongs to all of us.
The MHP is preparing for March 31 with conviction. Our Mersin open-air meeting took place with magnificent participation. The voice of patriots was heard. Mersin is united in the People's Alliance. There is no permission for the separatists who place an embargo on Mersin.
On March 31, service and guidance will win. We will work hard. We will turn night into day. We will not get tired until March 31. We will save local governments from obsolete politics. We have drawn our roadmap. We will break through those who put barriers of discord in front of us.
Let some be 'DEM-ified' and turn into political weathercocks. Their struggles are in vain. On March 31, we will break the wrists of them all at the ballot box. We will not leave local governments in need of the unmanly.
PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM
The upcoming election must be overcome without accidents or trouble. Turkey's momentum of progress must continue. The MHP and the People's Alliance are locked on this goal. The MHP draws its strength from the sacred. Our stance against anyone who acts against our national interests will not be shaken.
The door to a new Turkish century has been opened, and the first step has been taken. With the unparalleled consensus of the People's Alliance, Turkey has been saved from the parliamentary system, which had become a tangled mess of problems and a threat to our democracy.
TARGETED ÖZGÜR ÖZEL
Mr. Özgür, since a mill cannot turn with carried water, with whom will you establish this alliance?
It is futile for the CHP Chairman to pronounce the 'Turkey alliance'. Will they establish a Turkey alliance since the Nation Alliance did not work? Will they use the name Turkey as a roof name? Being 'DEM-ified' has not been good for the CHP. Mr. Özgür, with whom will you establish this alliance? How will you call an alliance where betrayal is 'brewing' (DEM-ifying) a Turkey alliance?
Where is the PKK in this alliance? Is your admiration for 'DEM-ism', your dressing them up and polishing them, just for the sake of an alliance? The Turkish nation and the Republic of Turkey will root out betrayal and will not look at anyone's tears. The end for those who hope for help from DEM is frustration at the ballot box.
There is no alliance of betrayal, only its destruction; take it from us.
ANSWER TO DAVUTOĞLU
One part of Ahmet Davutoğlu's speech full of delusions caught my attention. He says the following about me: 'We left the prime ministry position you are chasing.' We appeared as we are, and we were as we appeared. 'Those who have nothing left to defend start denying everything to justify themselves. They deny it so much that even the devil would be ashamed of his devilry in the darkness of the night.' Mr. Davutoğlu, as Hacı Bektaşi Veli said, we look at the essence, not the tongue and the word. If I had been caught up in the desire for the prime ministry, there would be no place or need for me to run. Stop the fairy tales, those who know us know us, those who recognize us recognize us. There is no one who does not know your record and your past. You did not leave the prime ministry position; you were left outside the door with a historic decision. You still haven't learned your lesson. Mr. Davutoğlu, let's move past these.
ANSWERED CLAIMS THAT "THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE"
For days, opposition parties have been claiming that there is a problem in the People's Alliance. They keep probing like a bush and hitting the rim of the drum. I say to these crippled circles that repeat these vulgar clichés: understanding and explaining the People's Alliance is not for everyone. To make sense of the national bond established between the AK Party and the MHP, one first needs a mind and heart kneaded with discernment, fairness, will, and love for the homeland.
JUNE 7, 2015 ELECTIONS
It is true that after the elections on June 7, 2015, the Prime Ministry position was offered to us both directly and indirectly. However, I considered it a duty of homeland, nation, and honor to push away with the back of my hand and trample on my ego regarding a government structure that was supported by political separatists and was against Turkey. Just as I have no regrets about this, if the same situation were to arise today, I would show a similar stance with courage and sense of duty.
ISRAEL-PALESTINE WAR
It has been decided that the genocide case filed against Israel at the International Court of Justice will be heard on its merits. The ICJ's decision is binding for countries that are parties to the prevention of the crime of genocide at the UN.
Israel will pay the price for the genocide. Our country's persistent contacts for peace and standing by the people in Gaza is an enviable diplomatic success. A ceasefire must be declared immediately between Israel and Palestine. Netanyahu's words are a primitive distortion. There is no end for the cruel. Israel is a rusty dagger stuck into the Islamic geography.
F-16 PROCESS
The USA is now in decline and is dissolving from within. It must cut its ties with terrorist organizations. The USA must withdraw from neighboring geographies. Is Johnny a human and our Mehmet not a human? The F-16 process must be completed as soon as possible. Such an alliance is a curse."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli had responded in the group meeting to the statement made by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to journalists on his return from Germany on November 18, saying, "the 50+1 requirement is leading parties down wrong paths”.
Bahçeli had said the following in his statement:
“I am of the same opinion regarding the change of the 50+1 condition; it would be appropriate. If we switch to the method of electing the candidate who gets the majority, the presidential election would also be quick, it wouldn't be a hassle, and it wouldn't lead to wrong paths. The current 50+1 obligation leads parties to wrong paths. It is unclear whose hand is in whose pocket. There is the 6-party table, the 16-party table... Who knows what else will come out after this? But when it is said 'the candidate who gets the most votes is elected' in terms of the number of votes, the election is completed quickly”
