Striking message from MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli on the 29th anniversary of Alparslan Türkeş's passing: The ideal of unity and internal peace

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made statements on the 29th anniversary of the passing of his party's Founding Chairman, Alparslan Türkeş. Emphasizing that Alparslan Türkeş was a great thinker, cause-driven leader, and statesman who institutionalized the idea of Turkish nationalism, brought it to large masses, and turned it into a political project, Bahçeli noted that Türkeş gathered the nationalist movement he initiated, as well as national excitement and desires, into a single consciousness.

Stating that Türkeş was a man of struggle who left deep marks on Turkish state and political life, Bahçeli said, "In stormy years, under difficult conditions, and in troubled times, he courageously upheld his principles and ideals and never compromised his stance or intellectual consistency. He was never deceived by promises of benefit, never turned back from his path, and was never among those who sold out, feared, or abandoned the cause. He dedicated his mortal life to his country, his nation, and his ideals. He closely witnessed and participated in the history of Turkish nationalism, which was spent with suffering and struggle, and gave a different meaning to this struggle with his presence. Türkeş is one of the most important figures in the honorable history of the Turkish ideal and the cause of Turkish nationalism that extends to the present day. Drawing inspiration from history, he fixed his eyes on the horizon of the future. With his words, 'I have embraced the entrusted cause. I am walking without looking back, without hesitation, and without caring about anything,' he demonstrated the determination to pass on the sacred trust of the great Turkish nation from generation to generation," he stated.

Noting that Türkeş expressed Turkish nationalism as the ideal of loving the Turkish nation and elevating it, and that he spent his life serving this purpose, Bahçeli said, "With his consistent life path and uncompromising stance, he did not tarnish the honor of our cause; he showed no weakness in the face of threats and dangers. Mr. Türkeş, a man of great struggle, vast heart, and ideals, dedicated his life to his sacred cause, devoted his soul to the success of the Turkish-Islamic ideal, and became the loud voice of common sense and an unwavering soldier of democracy. He did not remain silent in the face of injustice; he planned the great Turkey of the future and explained this tirelessly. Fortunately, the Nationalist Movement Party has become a school and school of politics that trains the ideas, vision, and cadres capable of answering every problem of our country. Our ideology and political struggle have found resonance in our noble nation and in oppressed hearts," he declared.

"Türkeş defined the fundamental philosophy of the Nationalist Movement as 'love for humanity'"

Stating that the torch lit by Türkeş will not go out, Bahçeli said, "The Nationalist Movement Party, which has left 57 years behind with glory and honor, is stronger and more developed today than it was yesterday. The accumulation and experience we have gained since our party was founded in 1969 have become the herald of the construction and revival of the Turkish and Turkey Century. The late Türkeş based the cause of Turkish Nationalism, which he expressed as 'the cause of creating a future worthy of the great and glorious past of the Turkish nation,' on a spiritual foundation that melts 'Turkish pride and consciousness with Islamic morality and virtue' in one pot. His term 'ideal of internal peace' acts as an antidote that transcends ages against all kinds of sedition, discord, and separatist movements in Turkey. Today, the vision of a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' which has gained broad social acceptance, is the realization of the 'ideal of internal peace.' To truly commemorate Türkeş and cherish his memory means to understand him correctly, to protect his ideals and ideas in their entirety, and to uphold his works and legacy with high consciousness. The Nationalist Movement Party and the Idealist Hearths (Ülkü Ocakları), the two sacred legacies of the late Mr. Türkeş, are in safe and capable hands today as the guarantee of our nation's future and independence. The nationalist-idealist movement will continue to walk its path with the same principles. In line with the vision of our leader (Başbuğ), as the Nationalist Movement Party and the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı), we are striving to reach our national aspirations and goals with determined steps and to build a leading country and a superpower Turkey in the Turkish and Turkey Century. Our strength is the Turkish nation, and our sole refuge and spiritual reward is the protection and grace of our Lord."
