MHP's Semih Yalçın reacts sharply to posts about Bahçeli: 'Abandon these futile policies'

MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın issued a written statement regarding social media posts about MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.

Stating that "the immorality and filth reflecting from some diseased minds are overflowing from social media channels like a flood caused by heavy rain, polluting the public conscience," Yalçın said, "Unfortunately, some newspapers and television stations, instead of standing against this pollution, are opening new channels and publishing content that paves the way for the flood to expand. Social media platforms have turned into dens that threaten our societal morality, our national values, and our traditions and customs."

Emphasizing that a large number of asocial types and trolls have emerged on social media who want to vent their diseased states of mind and soothe their inner grudges, hatred, and anger there, Yalçın noted the following:

'THEY ARE TRYING TO SATISFY THEIR MENTAL NEEDS ON SOCIAL MEDIA IN THEIR OWN MINDS'

"The primary target audience of some political parties is, unfortunately, social media rats and bot accounts. It is known that types who cannot adapt to social life and spend their time in digital dens are trying to make a place for themselves on social media. Some people who have become lonely in our digitalizing daily life are trying to satisfy their mental needs by socializing on social media in their own minds.

Driven by a kind of psychological rupture in society, these people become open and susceptible to all kinds of provocation and manipulation. These are the types that get caught on the hooks of socialist and Marxist political parties like the CHP, DEM Party, and TİP, which prioritize interests rather than morality, and the fishermen hunting in their media sea. Social media users susceptible to manipulation and provocation are mixed with bot accounts and end up as fodder for the tables, material for the interests, or pawns of the aforementioned political parties."

Arguing that the media supporting the CHP leads the newspapers and television stations that open channels for the floods and overflows occurring on social media platforms in Turkey, Yalçın continued:

"These low-level media outlets, which pose the question 'Is Devlet Bahçeli dead?' regarding our Chairman without carrying any human or moral concern, also provide the answer to this same fabricated and fake news themselves. Both such vile fake news is put forward in a vile manner, and the insults and profanities of social media rats, which are planned in advance and published on various platforms, are immediately served to the public accompanied by bot accounts.

'THE MENTAL HEALTH OF SOCIETY IS BEING IGNORED'

While our Chairman is being attacked vilely for days by organizing miserable manipulations and gossip news, let alone a political party leader, dishonorable insults that cannot be written or spoken, and cannot be expressed, are being leveled against any human being or any politician who loves their country. Those devoid of honor and dignity are after character assassination. The denials and statements issued to the public by our party are also primarily used by the same media gang."

Stating that turning a blind eye to, or even encouraging and embracing, all kinds of immorality and filth displayed on social media with motives such as harming political rivals or wearing down the government will eventually come back to hit the perpetrators, Yalçın assessed, "This issue, of course, cannot be explained only by political calculations. The social and sociopsychological side of the subject must definitely be taken into account. For the sake of political calculations and interests, the continuation and future of our generations and the mental health of society are being ignored."

Pointing out that the use of social media rats and bot accounts to wear down the masses they see as opponents, to change healthy and accurate perceptions, and to channel social reactions to certain targets harms the values that constitute Turkish society, Yalçın noted the following:

'THE CHP-MOUTHPIECE MEDIA MUST ABANDON ITS FUTILE POLICIES'

"Since we all live in the same society and everyone is traveling on the same ship, it is inevitable that everyone, every segment, and every institution will be negatively affected by this. Political parties that have made it a habit to use the miasma overflowing from social media channels to wear down their rivals and people they see as enemies should actually see that they are shooting themselves in the foot. The CHP-mouthpiece media, which has long since lost its credibility in the public eye and turned into a source of humor due to fake news and headlines full of lies and slander aimed at driving society off the rails, must abandon these futile publication policies.

As the MHP, we will fight with determination against the stomach-churning social media pollution and fake journalism that aims to destroy the traditions and values of our nation. We will relentlessly continue our struggle to dry up the swamps formed on social media and to ensure that virtual dens never function again."

Stating that they will consistently continue their stance against immoral opposition methods that pollute Turkish politics, Yalçın said, "We will not allow the erosion of personalities who have dedicated their existence to serving the survival of the nation and the permanence of the state, and the values that have emerged from the bosom of our nation, especially our Chairman Mr. Devlet Bahçeli. We are filing criminal complaints with our prosecutors regarding those responsible and the perpetrators. On the other hand, we also thank the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), which is making efforts to put an end to the pollution and character assassinations that are increasing day by day on screens and social media platforms."
