As citizens celebrated the 102nd anniversary of the Republic, a reception was held at Beştepe with the participation of politicians.
One of the notable details regarding the evening was the absence of the MHP.
Journalist İsmail Saymaz made a striking comment regarding this move, which he described as a 'silent protest'.
Reminding that Celal Adan and Erkan Akçay represented the MHP at the ceremony held at Anıtkabir in the morning, Saymaz commented as follows:
"MHP leader Bahçeli did not attend the October 29 ceremonies at Anıtkabir today.
The MHP was represented by Celal Adan and Erkan Akçay.
MHP members were completely absent from the Republic reception at Beştepe in the evening.
This silent protest by the MHP began with the difference of opinion regarding the Cyprus elections and continues."

CYPRUS DISAGREEMENT
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had reacted to the outcome of the TRNC elections and demanded that the elections not be considered valid. AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, on the other hand, did not make a negative comment regarding the election results and stated that democracy had taken its course.
