MHP figure addresses protesters with 'because we allow it' remarks: Threatening language
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had reacted to the protests held across the country following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, stating, "The street is not the solution. If others stand against those invited to the streets, as they did on July 15, how will an inevitable conflict be prevented, and how will the events be contained?" Following Bahçeli, another MHP figure has now made a threatening statement.

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had used threatening language against the protests held after the arrest of İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, saying, "Those who engage in anti-democratic pursuits must also be prepared to pay the price!" Following Bahçeli, the threatening remarks of the MHP Elazığ Provincial Chairman have also emerged.
In an assessment made to the Türkgün newspaper, which is close to his party, Bahçeli stated, "The street is not the solution. If others stand against those invited to the streets, as they did on July 15, how will an inevitable conflict be prevented, and how will the events be contained?"
The MHP Chairman said, "I am warning the political parties, television owners, commentators, and those wretched individuals who have tied their political future to the violence of the streets, primarily the CHP, who hope for salvation from polarization! Those who engage in anti-democratic pursuits must also be prepared to pay the price!"
THREATENING STATEMENT FROM MHP CHAIRMAN
Following Bahçeli's threatening words, the provocative statements of MHP Elazığ Provincial Chairman Yunus Bal also came to light.
Speaking at a holiday celebration program organized by the MHP at a hotel in Elazığ on the second day of Ramadan Bayram, Bal implicitly threatened the protesters.
MHP Elazığ Provincial Chairman Yunus Bal, recalling the 80s, claimed that the Republican People's Party's call for citizens to take to the streets was not a solution.
"BECAUSE WE ALLOW IT"
Yunus Bal spoke as follows:
"Our agenda is actually very busy, they are calling for the streets. First of all, I would like to thank my older brothers who lived through this street warfare in the 80s. I want to address Özgür Özel and his various cronies. If you are doing something on the streets today, you are doing it because the leader of the Nationalist Idealist Movement is holding us back. We protected those streets yesterday, we shed blood and gave our lives on those streets, we paid the price, we did not leave them to you. If you are marching in this city and other cities today, believe me, you are only doing it because we allow it. You are only doing it because our leader, our chairman, said 'allow it'."
