New Year's message from MHP leader Bahçeli: Statement on betting, match-fixing, and drug operations

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli issued a written statement for the new year.

Giving important messages regarding the second reconciliation process, of which he is the architect, Bahçeli said, "As the goal of a terror-free Turkey approaches, provocations increase."

Explaining his expectations for 2026, Bahçeli stated in his message, "It must be an essential and non-deferrable goal in 2026 to find root solutions to the questions and problems on the agenda that provoke the sensitivities of the Turkish nation, call into question the sense of justice that is the essence and purpose of law, and erode and destroy moral and spiritual values."

Regarding the betting, match-fixing, and drug operations that have occupied the public agenda, Bahçeli commented, "Turkey is not a country that will writhe under the use of drugs and stimulants by celebrities and non-celebrities alike, nor is it a country that will tolerate, turn a blind eye to, or remain indifferent to betting gangs and the scoundrels who rely on match-fixing schemes."

The full text of Bahçeli's message is as follows:

"We are leaving behind a turbulent year in which many difficulties and severe trials were experienced, alongside a climate of peace and hope that was fortified day by day, while dark calculations and ambitions were systematically put into circulation."

We witness with sorrow and regret that the common values and heritage of humanity are increasingly disappearing in the vortex of spreading and intensifying regional and global crises.

We also clearly see and assess that the world is being drawn into the gravitational field of a nascent and neurotic medieval logic.

Of course, while maintaining our optimism, we accept that not letting go of caution and prudence from every aspect and perspective is a vital and vigilant priority of will.

The year 2025 is the logbook of a 365-day adventure that witnessed both the realization of firsts and the manifestation of primitiveness worldwide.

The ship of humanity, which has hit the bottom of unrest due to generalized conflicts and confrontations and sometimes loses its horizon line, is in the ruthless grip of a comprehensive and chaotic uncertainty.

Capitalism, which has forked and become distorted simultaneously with the dissolving Neoliberalism and subsequently entered a phase of decay and rot, is endlessly delaying, or even preventing, the birth of a new international order and architecture.

The fall of humanity into a crisis of meaning and values, as moral and spiritual values erode and struggles for sharing based on force and violence increase, is occurring almost simultaneously.

MESSAGE ON GAZA: THE STAGE FOR THE TRAGEDY IS EXPANDING

The fact that the Zionist terror mentality, the ignoble perpetrator of the ongoing humanitarian disasters in Gaza and the culprit of war and genocide, is becoming even more rampant in the swaddling clothes of Imperialism is a sharp and advanced threat not only for the Middle East but for the entire world.

I must say with regret that the drying up of the global source of conscience and compassion, with the uploading of conscience to digital platforms, coincides with the same time and period.

Even if expecting conscience from digital platforms is a summary of how shocking and painful the situation is, believing that human and humanitarian conscience still maintains its discernment and functionality, and defending this belief, is a common obligation for everyone, for all of us.

The tears flowing from the eyes of the oppressed, the blood flowing from the bodies of innocent and blameless victims, and the lives taken from infants who still smell of milk are before us as a global tragedy.

The stage for this tragedy is constantly expanding.

The brutality that has engulfed Sudan since 2023 and the genocidal vandalism that has escalated in Gaza since the same date serve as evidence and proof of how a sequential and multiple vector of violence complements each other in different geographies.

Along with Yemen, which is effectively divided into three, the vortex of fragmentation into which Somalia is being drawn also painfully shows that the Middle East and Africa are caught in the influence of the Zionist-Imperialist turbulence.

CRITICIZED ISRAEL'S SOMALILAND DECISION

Indeed, the scheme established over Somaliland, located in the northwest of Somalia and stretching along the southern shores of the Gulf of Aden, the hostile and aggressive impositions of the rogue and shameless state organization Israel, and the move to recognize the so-called Somaliland clearly document how far the games being played extend.

Somalia's sovereign existence, political and territorial integrity should never be left to the flow of coincidences, and as Turkey, we must always be a supporter of this friendly and brotherly country.

My call and prayer is for the Gulf countries and other Islamic societies, whom I wish to possess a bit of fear of God, a little love for humanity, and a grain of conscience, to wake up from their negligence, misguidance, and worldly pleasures and ambitions, while proxy wars heat up and children in Gaza are wrapped in shrouds and laid in graves when they should be running and playing in parks.

Those who fan the flames, those who put the hot tongs into the hands of subcontractors, those who walk in the snow without leaving a trace, and those who voluntarily fall into the Zionist-Imperialist trap are in a test that will affect both their worlds in terms of humanitarian and Islamic values.

My only wish is for the year 2026 to be a blessed and effective milestone in this regard.

The stability of countries in neighboring regions and the balance of state and society are for the benefit and interest of our Turkey.

"IT IS IN EVERYONE'S COMMON INTEREST FOR SYRIA TO BE A PART COMPLIANT WITH THE MARCH 10 AGREEMENT"

There is a great need not for the hardening of a stormy belt surrounded by fire and war in our vicinity, but for the dominance of permanent softening and friendly relations adorned with reconciliation and embrace, reinforced by peace and tranquility.

In this context, especially in Syria, dissipating the thick fog of uncertainty and rooting internal harmony, peace, and stability is a matter of life and death.

It is in everyone's common interest for the SDG/YPG to be a part compliant with the March 10 Agreement of Syria instead of being a trigger-man for Israel, a remote-controlled puppet fed and pushed into impossible dreams.

Otherwise, the end of every hypocritical consideration and chronic preparation that will ruin the security vein of Turkey and regional countries will be dire for the perpetrators and actors.

The most important development of 2025 is undoubtedly the realization of the 'Terror-free Turkey' goal; the realization of concrete steps one by one instead of abstract, so-called, groundless waste of thought.

The bloody provocations of the DAESH terrorist organization, which is the intelligence apparatus and murder machine of hostile countries that are startled and frightened by the 'Terror-free Turkey' mobilization, and the waking up of sleeping traitorous cells by prodding them, must be followed carefully, and our national security requires fighting with all protective shields.

Regardless of its name, source, purpose, or the swamp where it breeds or is produced, terrorist organizations will not be granted the right to life and existence.

I believe that as a result of this declaration of determination, which is a historical issue of survival, an extraordinary and ruthless action plan will be made and put into the field against terrorism and terrorist organizations holding onto our sacred homeland soil.

DOWNED UAVS AND THE DEATH OF THE LIBYAN CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF

It is an absolute necessity to read the inner face of the psychological and strategic warfare, which is specifically organized against Turkey and which is understood to be advanced in a sustainable way as a disturbing aspect of the issue, in a multi-dimensional manner, and to respond with vigilance to covert operations and intelligence attacks that have the potential to jump and spread to every field of life.

The unmanned aerial vehicles that crashed/were shot down in Balıkesir, Çankırı, and Kocaali, and the crash of the private jet carrying the Libyan Chief of General Staff and the Libyan delegation raise many questions.

As the goal of a 'Terror-free Turkey' approaches, an increase in the search for provocation and destruction should be expected.

In this respect, the strengthening of our national unity and brotherhood, and the rotting of the seeds of discord that are wanted to be sown between Turks and Kurds with patience and perseverance, is a moral duty at the level of a 'farz-ı kifaye' (communal obligation) so that our common destiny does not turn into common grief.

"FINDING ROOT SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS ON THE AGENDA IN 2026 IS ESSENTIAL AND NON-DEFERRABLE"

It is a duty imposed by our national identity, our national future, the honor of democracy, our historical heritage, and our cultural richness for the opposition to use a sensible and responsible language and to meet and unite on the common ground of Turkey and the Turkish nation.

If this duty is neglected or denied, chain reactions will arise on the axis of political, social, and sovereign existence.

It must be an essential and non-deferrable goal in 2026 to find root solutions to the questions and problems on the agenda that provoke the sensitivities of the Turkish nation, call into question the sense of justice that is the essence and purpose of law, and erode and destroy moral and spiritual values.

FIRST COMMENT ON BETTING, MATCH-FIXING, AND DRUG INVESTIGATIONS

Turkey is not a country that will writhe under the use of drugs and stimulants by celebrities and non-celebrities alike, nor is it a country that will tolerate, turn a blind eye to, or remain indifferent to betting gangs and the scoundrels who rely on match-fixing schemes.

A clean person, a clean society, a clean future, and a clean life are a matter of existence for our nation.

Whoever aspires to veil or ruin this goal must pay the price very strictly and in every way.

The overcoming and weeding out of dirty, disgusting, and filthy relationships, which are indicators of bohemian and wrinkled lives, immoral and indecent relationship networks, moral erosion, and mental and conscientious blockage, with massive moral and humanitarian reforms in 2026, is the desire of the Muslim Turkish nation and its goal to be explained with the issue of honor.

In the words of the ancients, a country and social order where the voices of the 'eshab-ı namus' (symbols of honor), that is, honest people, cannot be heard, and instead, the spoiled, mediatic, nouveau-riche types of a fallen, exhausted, and lost life are mentioned and brought to the fore, is undoubtedly not healthy.

For Turkey to be completely purified from the scandals it has been exposed to recently in 2026 and to express its existence in the new century more strongly, every political party, non-governmental organization, university, and intellectual and scientist must be of one heart on the common ground of responsibility alongside the Nationalist Movement Party and the People's Alliance.

Turkey belongs to all of us; the Turkish nation is the apple of our eye and the architect of the future.

Every one of our people is valuable and respectable.

ISIS ATTACK IN YALOVA: I WISH MERCY UPON OUR MARTYRS

It should never be forgotten that attitudes, stances, and behaviors contrary and opposed to Turkish pride and consciousness, and Islamic morality and virtue, will consume our internal energy and open gaps in our moral front.

With these feelings and thoughts, I congratulate my dear citizens, the Turkish-Islamic world, our brothers and sisters living in our heart and cultural geographies, and indeed all of humanity on the new year, and I share my most heartfelt respects, love, and greetings.

I wish mercy from Almighty Allah upon our heroic police officers who were martyred as a result of the fire opened by DAESH terrorists in Yalova on December 29, 2025, and upon all our martyrs.

I also wish health, well-being, and wellness to our heroic children who were injured in the attack in Yalova.

I say, may Allah keep us safe from what we fear and grant us what we hope for.

May the new year come with goodness, pass with beauty, and hopefully be a means for Turkey and the Turkish nation to rise up and fully get rid of their shackles."
