The Turkish Parliament's Human Rights Investigation Commission Subcommittee on Islamophobia and Racism met today under the chairmanship of AKP Istanbul MP Adem Yıldırım. Explaining the commission's work, Yıldırım provided information about the visit commission members made to France on July 14, 2023.

Abdullah Eren, President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, presented information regarding the meetings commission members held with Turkish non-governmental organizations in France.

CHP Şanlıurfa MP Mahmut Tanal criticized the situation, stating, "As the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, there should be no discrimination in such meetings or invitations among citizens. None of our friends who are cemevi administrators, primarily from the Alevi community, were invited there."

"PLACES WHERE TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS ARE MOST CONCENTRATED"

MHP Isparta MP Hasan Basri Sönmez took the floor following Tanal's criticisms and said the following:

"I may not have mentioned it in conversation or during our trip, but since you brought it up regarding cemevis or their associations... As we all know, France is one of the places where terrorist organizations are most concentrated. Germany, France; these are the places where they group together or have associations most intensely. When I brought this up at the embassy, they told me this: Under the guise of cemevis—of course, I am excluding cemevis and their associations here—there is a lot of grouping, or they gather under that umbrella. Therefore, it is very difficult for us to select or distinguish them."
