MHP submits legislative proposal to Parliament: Penalties coming for AI-generated fake content

The MHP has taken action against the unauthorized sharing of fake audio, video, and written content produced with artificial intelligence. According to the legislative proposal submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) by MHP Kayseri Deputy İsmail Özdemir, heavy administrative fines will be imposed on social media platforms that allow such content.

MHP Kayseri Deputy and Deputy Chairman İsmail Özdemir has submitted a legislative proposal to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey aimed at preventing the unauthorized sharing of fake audio, video, and written content created using artificial intelligence technologies.

PENALTIES COMING FOR UNAUTHORIZED SHARING

According to the report by Esma Altın from Türkiye newspaper, the proposal aims to prevent grievances that may be caused by such content produced and shared without the consent of individuals. Within the scope of the regulation, digital platforms that allow the sharing of the content in question are also held accountable.

TURNOVER-BASED FINES FOR PLATFORMS

According to the proposal prepared by the MHP, it is envisaged that social media tools and digital platforms that allow the publication of fake content produced with artificial intelligence will be subject to an administrative fine of 5 percent of the turnover obtained in the year prior to the year in which the content was shared.
