Migration Management Presidency issues statement on Afghanistan visit and flag

The Presidency of Migration Management has issued a statement regarding allegations that emerged following a visit by its delegation to Afghanistan as part of efforts to combat irregular migration.

In the written statement issued by the Presidency of Migration Management, it was stated: “A need has arisen to make a statement regarding the untrue allegations concerning the visit of the Presidency of Migration Management delegation to Afghanistan within the scope of our country's fight against irregular migration.

In order to carry out the fight against irregular migration without interruption and to ensure the return of irregular migrants to their countries, it is necessary to maintain bilateral contacts with source countries.

During the meetings held within the framework of this visit to Afghanistan, our determination in the fight against irregular migration was emphasized, and the return processes of Afghan citizens who are in the status of irregular migrants in our country were discussed,” the statement read.

TURKISH FLAG STATEMENT

The statement noted that the Turkish flag was not present during the meeting because Turkey does not officially recognize the interim government of Afghanistan, stating: “The Chargé d'Affaires of the Turkish Embassy in Kabul and officials from relevant institutions also attended the meetings.

Furthermore, since our country does not officially recognize the interim government of Afghanistan, our flag is not placed at such meetings.

The allegations in question do not reflect the truth. As the Presidency of Migration Management, we will continue our fight against irregular migration with perseverance and determination,” it was stated.
