Minguzzi murder case now treated as organized crime

A significant development has occurred in the murder case of 15-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who lost his life after being attacked with a knife in Kadıköy, Istanbul.

Rezan Epözdemir, the lawyer for the Minguzzi family, stated in a post on his social media account that the investigation launched following the incident has been expanded to include "organized crime" charges.

Sharing a screenshot of a message in which he was threatened, Attorney Epözdemir included the following statements in his post:

“Members of the press are asking: following the murder of our child Ahmet Minguzzi, due to the threats directed at the client family, family members, ourselves, and some journalists, the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has issued a warrant to the Organized Crime Branch Directorate to determine whether the perpetrators are part of an organized structure, and an investigation has been initiated.

These messages and threats cannot intimidate or frighten us; we are not afraid.

Both we and our client, the Minguzzi family, will continue our legal struggle to the end to ensure that justice is served and that these creatures are punished in a way that sets a precedent.”
