Minister Akın Gürlek: We are determined to solve certain high-profile murders, especially that of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, who arrived in Trabzon in the morning for a series of programs, attended the AK Party 25th Anniversary Organization Meeting. Speaking at the program, Minister Gürlek noted that the biggest complaint citizens have about justice is the delay in trials. Minister Akın Gürlek expressed his belief that they have accomplished significant work as the Ministry of Justice, stating, "Since I took office, we have been carrying out intensive work regarding access to justice. I think I know the problems in justice, especially because I come from the field of practice.

The biggest complaint of our citizens about justice is the delay in trials; I believe we have taken important steps in this regard. Our 12th Judicial Package has been accepted by the parliament. We have set target durations for how long a case should take to conclude as soon as it is filed, especially for our citizens. When our citizen files a lawsuit, they must know how long it will take to finish. Our judges and prosecutors will strictly adhere to this target duration.

A rent determination case will be concluded in 9 months. If it is not finished in 9 months, an administrative investigation will be launched regarding that judge. We are very sensitive about this. Because our judge and prosecutor colleagues will definitely do their duty regarding the delay of the judiciary. They will not be lazy. I have also served as a judge and prosecutor. Of course, our judges and prosecutors work selflessly. But the satisfaction of our citizens is very important to us. We always say the Century of Turkey, the century of justice. As the Ministry of Justice, we continue to work on this. I think we are doing important work," he said.

Emphasizing that they have uncovered 30 unsolved murders, Minister Gürlek stated, "We have established a new bureau specifically for cold cases. So far, we have uncovered 30 unsolved murders. If there is a murder, there is certainly a perpetrator. The state is obligated to find the perpetrator in this matter. We are determined to pursue this wherever it leads. A new operation was recently conducted regarding the late Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu. We are determined to solve certain high-profile murders, including the murder of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu," he said.
