Regarding the mining accident that occurred in the İliç district of Erzincan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that the most recent inspection was carried out at the beginning of August 2023.

Bayraktar stated that no findings have been made yet regarding the accident that occurred yesterday and that the cause of the accident is still being investigated. While wishing patience for the workers trapped under the landslide and their families, Bayraktar noted that they have been acting in coordination with relevant institutions, ministries, and the crisis desk immediately following the incident, and that their priority is the rescue of the workers.

Sharing the information that the mine has had an operating license since 2004, Bayraktar noted, "It is an operation continuing under the operatorship of a foreign company. It is a company that last obtained its environmental permits in 2021. It is a mine whose inspections in terms of mining are also closely followed.
