Minister Fidan meets with his US counterpart Blinken

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke to Al Jazeera about the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza and the latest developments in the region.

Minister Fidan stated that he told his US counterpart Antony Blinken regarding Palestine, "If you do not distance yourselves from what Israel is doing—which you are not doing right now—this means a bigger crisis for the whole world."

-We do not accept the discussion of questions like 'who will govern Gaza' without a two-state solution.

-Gaza was already being governed before the war, and it can continue to be governed now. Gaza does not have a governance problem. Gaza's problem is that it is under occupation and being bombarded.

-They left neither electricity nor water in Gaza. They are destroying the infrastructure, bombing hospitals and schools. They want people to be unable to live there and to leave.

-Hamas is a reality of Palestine, a movement that emerged under conditions of occupation. We do not have to think the same way as Western countries on this issue.

-An action group consisting of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Jordan, Egypt, and Qatar has been formed within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The Foreign Ministers of these countries will begin to hold contacts in the capitals of various countries starting next week.

-It is a major problem that some crazy Israeli politicians are talking about using nuclear weapons. We are in favor of making the region free of nuclear weapons.

-I am addressing our brothers and sisters in Gaza: You are not alone, we continue to work for you with all our might.

-Since the beginning of the crisis, Qatar has been in contact with all parties for the release of hostages and is making a tremendous effort. We are also providing all the help we can on this matter.
