Minister Fidan spoke in Cairo: 'We want the immediate revival of negotiations and a process that will result in a two-state solution'

Minister Fidan addressed participants at the "Cairo Peace Summit" in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, where developments in Gaza were discussed.

Stating that Israel's attacks have turned into a massacre, Fidan noted the following:

"There can be no excuse for collective punishment or these attacks against human rights and human life. We unequivocally condemn the loss of civilian lives. The international community must be aware of how critical its behavior and the messages it sends are. Israel must understand that a temporary, so-called victory does not lead to long-term peace in the course of history, and that it will not happen now, just as it has not in the past. It should not view the attacks carried out against it as a blank check to unleash a terrible rage against Palestinians. Attacks on hospitals and civilians must be stopped immediately."

Stating that the unconditional support given to Israel and unrealistic plans have led to the disregard of Palestinians, Fidan said it is clear that continuing such mistakes shows that the current international community cannot provide solutions to fundamental problems, and that this would only mean the weakening of universal values and the distortion of facts.

Fidan said, "Israel has taken advantage of these systemic errors. While maintaining equality between Islamic, Christian, and religious sites, it is committing crimes against civilians here in both the West Bank and Gaza. It is building illegal settlements."

Foreign Minister Fidan stated that Türkiye calls for an immediate end to the attacks and the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and concluded his remarks as follows:

"We want the immediate revival of negotiations and a process that will result in a two-state solution. A sovereign, independent, and geographically contiguous Palestine with its capital in East Jerusalem within the 1967 borders is not only essential for peace. It is a prerequisite for both regional and international stability. Of course, these are not enough. We need to go beyond the agreement and take concrete steps for this vision. I would like to express our gratitude to Egypt for hosting this timely summit."
