Minister Göktaş delivers key messages at the Turkish-American Business Summit: Foster family mobilization
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş emphasized the need to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries at the Business Summit organized by the Turkish American National Steering Committee and MÜSİAD. Göktaş also announced that they will hold an important event within the scope of the 79th UN General Assembly.

Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş came together at the Turkish-American Business Summit alongside Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat. The summit was organized to enable the Turkish business world to utilize opportunities in the USA more effectively. In her speech there, Göktaş expressed her pleasure in meeting with Turks in the USA.
Stating that the Turkish community has established strong human bonds between the two countries, Göktaş said, “Your dedicated work strengthens our image both in our motherland and abroad. Although Turkey and the USA are located in two different parts of the world geographically, there is a strong bond of understanding, friendship, and cooperation between their peoples.”
Minister Göktaş stated that these bonds are not limited to inter-state relations, and that the direct communication established by the peoples and shared cultural values further solidify these relations. She also announced that they would hold a high-level event and that the theme of this event would be the "Gönül Elçileri" (Volunteers of the Heart) project. She stated that Turkey’s foster family service model would be introduced to officials from other countries at this event.
Regarding the activity they will carry out in cooperation with UNICEF, Göktaş said, "We will issue a global call for mobilization regarding foster families." Emphasizing that they provide social services with an understanding that leaves no one behind as a Ministry, Göktaş remarked, “We are always by our citizens' side.”
The summit aims to contribute to the strengthening of commercial relations between the two countries, in addition to sharing information regarding investment opportunities for the Turkish business world in the USA. Göktaş emphasized that Turkish business people should evaluate these opportunities and develop lasting collaborations between the two countries.
WHO IS MAHİNUR GÖKTAŞ?
Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş serves as Turkey's Minister of Family and Social Services. Born in Bursa in 1983, Göktaş completed her undergraduate education at the Istanbul University Faculty of Political Sciences. She began her political career within the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and has held various positions.
Göktaş is particularly known for her work in the fields of women's rights, child protection policies, and social services. Prior to her ministerial role, she also served as a member of parliament in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). She plays an active role in the development of social service policies and the increase of social welfare. While carrying out her ministerial duties, she aims to develop important projects on the issues of social justice, social solidarity, and the strengthening of the family structure.
