Minister Gürlek sends get-well message to gendarmerie officer wounded in drug operation

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated that those who opened fire on a public official on duty, resulting in the injury of one gendarmerie officer in Bahçelievler, Istanbul, will be held accountable before the law.

In a post on his social media account, Gürlek stated that the opening of fire on the gendarmerie during an anti-drug operation in Istanbul was a clear attack directed at the state's determined struggle conducted within the framework of the law.

Minister Gürlek noted the following:

"Those who draw weapons on a public official on duty will be held accountable before the law, and the peace and security of our citizens will be protected with determination under all circumstances.

Our fight against drugs, armed criminal organizations, and all kinds of dark structures targeting our youth will continue uninterrupted and without compromise.

On this occasion, I wish a speedy recovery to our wounded Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant and wholeheartedly congratulate our Gendarmerie and JASAT teams for their courage and sacrifices."

The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that suspects opened fire during a drug operation carried out in Bahçelievler, slightly wounding a gendarmerie officer. It was reported that an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
