Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has made a statement regarding the details of the new regulation for health technicians.
Minister Koca clarified his statement from yesterday regarding the new regulation for anesthesia and operating room technicians, as well as emergency medical technicians and paramedics, through a post on his social media account.
Emphasizing that under the regulation, which is expected to be published in the Official Gazette soon, technicians will perform technician duties and nurses will perform nursing duties in the public sector—meaning neither will be assigned to the other's field—Koca noted that in the private sector, technicians are permitted to perform tasks appropriate to their job description under the supervision of nurses.
Including a video in his post where he answered a young person's question on the subject during a visit to tradespeople in Mardin today, Koca stated the following:
"In the public sector, everyone will do their own job. Technicians will do their own work, nurse colleagues will do their own work; no one will work in place of another. In the private sector, specifically in this sense, they are only permitted to perform tasks appropriate to their job description under the responsibility of our nurse colleagues; if our nurse colleagues are not present, they have no status to work.
In other words, our nurse colleagues should not be anxious. Technician colleagues will only be in the private sector under their responsibility and in accordance with their job descriptions... In the public sector, everyone will work in the field appropriate to their own job description."
