Minister Kurum announces the number of buildings damaged in the earthquake
Following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Istanbul, 1,640 buildings were identified as having minor damage. Minister Kurum reported that damage assessment efforts are ongoing.

The 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Silivri in the Sea of Marmara on April 23 caused great panic in Istanbul.
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that 18,074 buildings have been inspected so far following the earthquake, with 16,434 found to be undamaged and 1,640 identified as having minor damage.
In a statement on his X account, Kurum said, "As part of our damage assessment efforts in Istanbul, we have inspected 18,074 buildings so far. We have determined that 16,434 buildings are undamaged and 1,640 buildings have minor damage. We will do what is necessary once our damage assessment work is completed."
