Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, stated in a statement following the atrocity in Fatih, Istanbul, that the fight against violence against women and femicide will continue with determination.
In a message shared on her social media account, Minister Göktaş said, "The brutal murder of our two young girls in Istanbul has broken all of our hearts. As the Ministry, we will continue our fight to eradicate violence against women and femicide from this geography with determination, without any ifs or buts, and with the principle of zero tolerance!" she said.
In her statement, "We know that we are not alone in this struggle. Everyone whose heart is burning today is our companion on this path. We will continue to work with all our might in cooperation with all relevant institutions to eliminate not only violence but also the causes that give rise to violence and to prevent femicide," said Göktaş, who wished God's mercy upon the deceased and offered her condolences to their grieving families. She added, "We stand by our families in every matter, especially regarding psychosocial support." she stated.
