Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin criticized the sit-in protest held by the CHP in front of the Ministry of National Education for teachers who have not been appointed.

Responding to journalists' questions before the AK Party Group Meeting at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Tekin called on the CHP and other parties not to exploit the emotions of teacher candidates.

NOT THE RIGHT BEHAVIOR

In response to a question regarding the sit-in protest held by the CHP to criticize the interview process for teacher appointments, Tekin replied: “My advice to the CHP or others is this: they should not exploit the emotions of our teacher candidate friends. When we announced that we would carry out the interview process, an expectation of favoritism or nepotism was created. However, we completed the interviews without any favoritism. Now, those who have come up empty-handed are exploiting the emotions of teachers. It is truly a shame; it is not the right behavior.”

"THEY SHOULD REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT AS MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT"

Stating that the honor and dignity of teacher candidates should not be toyed with, Tekin said, “If they have any thoughts that there was favoritism or injustice regarding the interviews, they should apply through the objection process regarding the commissions. We will do what is necessary; there is no need for anyone to hold a protest. There is a morally problematic situation here,” he said.

Regarding party officials who requested an appointment with him, Tekin added:

“When the batteries of toys outside the party run out, they are no longer played with. If they are requesting an appointment, they should ask as members of parliament; in that case, my door is open. They should not try to exploit the emotions of others by coming with party titles; my door is closed to such requests. I have expressed this situation before.”
