Minister of National Education Tekin outlines goals for curriculum changes

The Khwarizmi Education Model Festival, organized by the Ministry of National Education to help children turn their theoretical knowledge into practice, was also held in Sultangazi.

At the festival, hosted by the Sultangazi Municipality, projects from the Khwarizmi Education Model, which is implemented by 140 teams in 71 schools in the district, were exhibited.

Participating in the program, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin said, "We changed the curriculum so that our children can put the theoretical knowledge they learn at school into practice and turn it into skills, just like in the Khwarizmi Model.

Addressing the criticisms regarding the curriculum change, Minister Tekin said, "We changed our curriculum to reduce the information load on our children and the weight of the curriculum in our schools by over 35 percent. We changed our curriculum to eliminate the criticisms directed at us in international reports and data from the modern world, such as 'your curriculum is too heavy' and 'your curriculum is only information-oriented, not skill-oriented.' We changed our curriculum so that our children can protect their values in order to be beneficial to the future, to the Turkey of the future, to their society, their nation, and their flag. The results of this change will be like this."

Addressing the parents, Minister Tekin said, "From now on, our children will go to school more happily and will be able to put the knowledge they learn at school into practice. Today, we have 71 schools here for the Khwarizmi Model. I believe that after our curriculum is implemented, all of our 76 thousand schools will embrace it in this way.

Today, 21 of our schools in Sultangazi have been included in the Writers of the Future Project. We want the Writers of the Future Project to be implemented in all of our 76 thousand schools next year.

Our children spend very little of their lives with us in schools. They spend the vast majority of it with you, that is, with their families. If you support the efforts of our children at school and the sacrifices our teachers make for your children at school a little bit, a very beautiful picture will emerge.
