Minister Tekin announces: Appointment results were opened by mistake

The contract teacher interview results, which were published by the Ministry of National Education via e-Devlet, were withdrawn shortly after. 

Making statements on the subject to CNN Türk, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin stated that the results were opened in the system by mistake and that an investigation has been launched into the person responsible for this error.

INTERVIEW RESULTS WITHDRAWN

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin said that the results regarding contract teacher appointments were accidentally published as a result of an error by an employee at the Department of Information Processing.

Stating that an investigation has been launched into the person responsible for this error, Tekin emphasized that the interview process is subject to the decision of the Council of State.

ACTION WILL BE TAKEN ACCORDING TO THE COUNCIL OF STATE DECISION

Minister Tekin said that the process regarding the interviews will be shaped according to the decision to be made by the Council of State. Stating, "We will make appointments with 50 percent or 100 percent [weighting] in line with the Council of State's decision," Tekin noted that the interviews are actually conducted in a "trial lesson" format and that teachers are expected to teach a lesson to students using their field knowledge. Tekin expressed that they are waiting for the Council of State's decision to proceed with the appointment of 20 thousand teachers, and that the results will be announced as soon as the decision is issued.

WILL INTERVIEWS BE ABOLISHED?

When asked about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statements regarding the abolition of interviews, Minister Tekin stated that the teaching profession is not within that scope. Emphasizing that interviews are necessary, Tekin said, "Interviews will be held, and favoritism is technically impossible."

STATEMENT ON PROTOCOLS WITH COMMUNITIES AND SECTS 

Minister Tekin also responded to a question regarding the protocols signed with communities and sects.

Tekin stated that the Ministry's protocols are standard and that no resources are transferred to any non-governmental organization (NGO). He noted that NGOs are audited by the Ministry of Interior and that the initiative in the protocols made with the Ministry belongs entirely to the Ministry of National Education. Tekin said, "The number of these protocols does not exceed the fingers of one hand, and they can be terminated unilaterally at any time."
