President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements following the Cabinet Meeting held yesterday.
Erdoğan stated that Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin would make a press statement regarding teacher appointments.
In the press conference he held today, Minister Tekin said that 20 thousand teachers would be appointed. Furthermore, Tekin announced the five branches with the highest quotas out of the 87 fields that form the basis for the appointments.
According to Tekin's statement, the number of teachers to be appointed is planned as follows: primary school teaching 3 thousand 263, special education 2 thousand 499, guidance 1597, religious culture and ethics 1594, and English 968.

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) published the 20 thousand contract teacher appointment calendar and the quota distribution by branch on its website.
Accordingly, preliminary applications and oral exam center preferences will be made between May 20-31.
The exam centers where candidates will take the oral exam will be announced on June 10. Oral exams will be held starting from July 1.
