Minister Tunç announces: Investigation launched into Oktay Tabur, who presided over the Pastor Brunson case

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that an investigation has been launched into Oktay Tabur, President of the İzmir Judicial Justice Commission, and that his authority has been terminated.

Oktay Tabur, President of the İzmir Judicial First Instance Court Justice Commission, was revealed to have displayed a collection of firearms on the wall of his lounge at the İzmir Courthouse and posed for a photograph with the President of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) Inspection Board and his deputies.

According to a report by Timur Soykan from BirGün; HSK inspectors who visited the İzmir Courthouse on May 2 were seen posing for photos instead of launching an investigation upon seeing this arsenal in the lounge.

AUTHORITY TERMINATED

Regarding the photograph in question, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated in a post on X, "Our judges and public prosecutors are required to avoid inappropriate behavior in all their activities within the framework of Judicial Ethics principles," and added the following:

"In this context, an investigation and inquiry have been initiated by the Council of Judges and Prosecutors regarding the images and allegations reflected in the public domain concerning the President of the İzmir Judicial Justice Commission.

Furthermore, the authority of the individual in question as President of the İzmir Judicial Justice Commission has been terminated."
