Minister Tunç makes statement on 'Newborn Gang' investigation: Provides number of detainees

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç provided an update on the latest status of the 'Newborn' investigation in a statement on his social media account.

Tunç included the following statements in his post on his social media account:

Following applications made to CİMER regarding infant deaths occurring due to inhumane and unsuitable conditions resulting from the leasing of neonatal intensive care units at certain private hospitals in Istanbul, and upon the report by the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate, an investigation was initiated by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on 21.05.2023; within this scope, 22 of the 47 suspects detained to date have been arrested.

An indictment was prepared on 16.10.2024 regarding the 47 suspects, and the judicial process for these suspects, 22 of whom are currently in custody, is ongoing.

On the other hand, an investigation has been initiated by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the threatening of the Public Prosecutor serving at the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; 5 of the 8 detained suspects have been arrested, and judicial control measures have been imposed on 3 of them.

This investigation is also continuing in a multi-faceted and meticulous manner.
