In a post on his social media account, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated that instead of responding to allegations, Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel's disparaging remarks toward the Ministry of Justice and his use of the independent Turkish judiciary as material for his personal delusions are a clear indication of his political bankruptcy, and included the following statements:
"The CHP Chairman has once again shown, with the lies and baseless accusations he concocted tonight, how overwhelmed, cornered, and desperate he is due to the corruption allegations and the confessions spilling out within his party.
We are witnessing with sadness that the bankrupt CHP Chairman's balance is deteriorating day by day as he tries to secure his own future, and that he recognizes no limits in his lack of seriousness. No one should make our state's deep-rooted institutions and judicial bodies the material for their own petty calculations. Özgür Özel has two options before him.
To break free from his strings and choose to be truly 'free'? Or, as a puppet, to continue serving someone's 'special' agenda and attacking members of the judiciary? Our advice to him is to calmly and seriously await the outcome of the corruption investigations, and to pursue honest and decent politics instead of climbing to the peak of producing lies and slander. Otherwise, he will disappear with the title of the last representative of a mentality that stabs its former chairman in the back, buys votes with money, and remains silent about the bribery cycle revolving around boxes of baklava in municipalities."
