Minister Uraloğlu announced: 25.8 million lira in fines issued to intercity buses

During the Eid al-Adha holiday, bus companies were subjected to strict inspections regarding the sale of overpriced tickets and unauthorized transport activities.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced the results of the inspections carried out on bus companies during the period covering the Eid al-Adha holiday. 

Stating that the inspections were conducted electronically via the Transport Electronic Tracking and Inspection System, and also carried out at passenger terminals, roadsides, and highway inspection stations, Uraloğlu said that 1,372 businesses were examined during this process. 

Uraloğlu stated that the sale of overpriced tickets, illegal transport, and activities conducted without an authorization certificate were among the priority agenda items, and used the following expressions:

'In this context, 1,372 businesses and 40 thousand 767 bus trips were inspected. Between May 20 and June 10, administrative actions totaling 25 million 822 thousand 849 lira were applied to bus operators in 4 thousand 971 instances.

During this period when inspections were intensified, 12 million 743 thousand 525 passengers traveled on 1 million 172 thousand 549 trips. During this process, buses covered 145 million 743 thousand 94 kilometers. Our inspections do not only cover holiday periods.

We are effectively continuing our bus inspections nationwide to prevent the sale of overpriced tickets and to ensure order in passenger transport.'
