Minister Yerlikaya: 97 people detained
Interior Minister Yerlikaya announced that 97 suspects have been detained during the protests for Ekrem İmamoğlu.

In an operation launched against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) on the morning of Wednesday, March 19, IBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and more than 100 people accompanying him were detained.
Citizens reacting to the detentions took to the squares and streets to show their support for İmamoğlu.
STATEMENT FROM YERLİKAYA: 97 DETAINED
Citizens were subjected to police intervention during the protests. Detentions occurred in many cities. Interior Minister Yerlikaya announced that 97 citizens had been detained.
The statement shared by Yerlikaya on his social media account is as follows:
"Our police, with patience and common sense, have not allowed and will not allow those who threaten the peace and security of our Noble Nation, provocations, or vandalism. Those who try to terrorize the streets with their calls will never reach their goals.
In tonight's demonstrations;
-Violation of Law No. 2911
-Damaging Public Property and
-Resisting to Prevent the Performance of Duty, 97 suspects were detained.
Our police, who are the guarantors of our peace and security, are on duty day and night."
