Minister Yerlikaya announced: 139 people detained in fraud operation

In operations carried out across 13 provinces centered in Antalya, 139 people who committed fraud using 450 thousand GSM lines were apprehended. It was determined that 1.2 billion TL in illicit gains were obtained as a result of the operation.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 139 people were detained in operations conducted across 13 provinces centered in Antalya, following fraud activities carried out using 450 thousand GSM lines. In a statement made via social media, Minister Yerlikaya noted that the operation was carried out under the coordination of the Kemer Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Gendarmerie General Command Intelligence Department, and the Department of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM).

Within the scope of the operation, simultaneous raids were conducted in İzmir, Adana, Bursa, Gaziantep, Kocaeli, Hatay, Istanbul, Denizli, Afyonkarahisar, Manisa, Aydın, and Kayseri. As a result of the efforts, it was determined that the 450 thousand GSM lines used in the fraud activities were managed by members of 22 umbrella organizations.

ASSETS SEIZED

Sharing the details of the operation, Minister Yerlikaya stated that the suspects defrauded citizens by receiving aid applications through fake E-Devlet (e-Government) links and performed money transfers from the victims' accounts by obtaining their card information. Furthermore, it was stated that they intimidated and defrauded citizens by sending messages such as "This is the final day of your criminal investigation" and obtained mobile banking information through fake credit card fee refund and vehicle raffle links on social media.
